Chief Financial Officer

Our firm has been retained by an industry-leading, value-added distributor of liquid handling equipment concentrating in the Petroleum, Industrial and Car Wash Markets to recruit their Chief Financial Officer.

A privately owned company, our client’s focus is to be the single source of supplier equipment and to provide additional services such as electrical, installations, turnkey projects and batching systems, with 24/7 service after the sale.  Headquartered in North Carolina, our client has branch offices in seven states.

Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will direct and oversee all the financial activities of the corporation, including accounting and reporting, cost accounting, payables, collections, budget preparation, audits, investor relations and risk management.  The CFO will lead the company’s efforts in developing financial strategic plans to grow the business.  He/she will oversee an eight-person accounting staff, including a controller and a senior accountant.  Key qualifications include:

• a minimum of 15 years of professional financial management; experience should include time in a small- to medium-sized manufacturing or distribution company; candidates with experience working for businesses that have a service or construction component will be advantaged;

• financial acumen and significant analytical skills; candidates will have strong operational accounting and financial reporting skills; will have demonstrated an intuitive sense about costs; will be proficient in cash flow forecasting and financial modeling; must have a demonstrated facility for reaching sound business decisions after reviewing available information;

• successful experience working directly with the outside financial community, including commercial lenders and, ideally, private equity investors; will have participated and/or led financing efforts; will have also demonstrated the ability to actively monitor and improve working capital;

• excellent communication skills; candidates must have demonstrated above average written and verbal skills; will be effective in communicating with people at all levels (from the truck drivers to the management team) of the organization; must be a good listener who will weigh in with opinions after hearing the opinions of others; will communicate in a candid and tactful manner.

This is an excellent opportunity and an attractive compensation package, including base salary and bonus will be tailored to the successful candidate’s requirements.
