Our firm has been retained to recruit the Chief Operating Officer of the leading provider of performance management software and services to the human services sector. Our client’s software and services give organizations a clear picture of which efforts are having the greatest impact on the social issues they strive to address. Their software replaces one-size-fits-all data tracking with a reporting system tailored to the unique mission of each nonprofit organization. Our client’s software generates a clear and accurate measure of impact to improve service delivery, earn more funding, and reduce the time and resources dedicated to tracking performance.
Our client seeks an experienced, customer-focused and committed operator who will lead Product Development, Professional Services, and Customer Service. The successful candidate will be charged with scaling systems, metrics, and procedures to fuel the company’s rapid growth.
Key qualifications include:
• a minimum of 15 years’ professional experience, a significant portion of which will have come from managing operations for a software company; candidates with not-for-profit software or education-related technology companies are strongly preferred;
• strong managerial credentials with a bottom line orientation – will understand that running a fast-growing technology business requires constant attention to cash flow; will make smart, analytically sound decisions based on return on investment and profit potential; will have built and managed a team or division in excess of 60 people;
• operational expertise; will have the ability to keenly lead the effort to improve processes, develop and measure performance metrics, increase revenues, drive down costs, and increase customer satisfaction and delivery levels;
• a high comfort level with technology; will have enough technical know-how to grow a successful technology solution company; will understand software and Internet technology at a high level; must be conversant enough on technology issues to talk with both programmers and line executives;
• tremendous leadership ability; the bent for taking responsibility, moving ahead and encouraging others; must have the self-confidence, integrity, intellect, and perseverance that inspires trust and confidence;
• excellent communications and interpersonal skills; a culture and team builder who will be effective in building strong partnerships and credibility at all levels of the company, as well as with customers, strategic partners, and investors;
• strong organizational/administrative skills; will be a hands-on manager, someone who is not afraid to get into the detail; still, candidates must not allow their people to lose sight of the organization’s broader challenges and goals;
• an entrepreneurial spirit; the ability to wear a number of different hats and switch gears quickly and frequently.
This is an excellent opportunity and an attractive compensation package; including base salary, bonus, and an equity participation, will be tailored to the successful candidate’s requirements.
