Our firm has been retained to conduct the search for a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis for a not-for profit, integrated healthcare system that serves more than 3.5MM people in the Carolinas and Virginia. Ranked as one of our nation’s 10 best healthcare systems, our client has revenues of roughly $3B and employs more than 22,000, including 800+ in their physician groups. In addition to hospital affiliates, our client’s facilities and programs include two nursing homes, 200+ physician clinics, outpatient surgery centers, community health outreach programs and a national organization with 92 diagnostic imaging centers in 13 states.
The Director of Financial Planning and Analysis will be responsible for directing strategic financial planning activities, including financial and clinical analysis, product line planning, new business development, and capital allocation. He/she will provide support in acquisitions, divestitures and other activities including cash flow, funding, staffing and operational considerations for system wide initiatives.
Reporting to the Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis, the successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
• a minimum of seven years’ post undergraduate experience; while not a requirement, candidates with exposure to the healthcare sector in a corporate finance or consulting environment will be advantaged;
• documented analytical skills; must be able to absorb large amounts of data and capable of reaching sound business conclusions;
• will be self motivated and thrive on working independently; will be comfortable in an ambiguous setting and find satisfaction from being part of the “think tank” of the entire system;
• financial acumen and general business savvy; will be strong financially and committed to exploring ways to help our client remain fiscally sound;
• vision; must be fully capable of analyzing the financial merit of business development opportunities;
• excellent communication skills; will interface with executives at the highest level; must be able to elicit the real issues and be adept at presenting his/her ideas orally and in writing; • an MBA and/or masters degree in accounting is preferred.
