Hedge Fund Co-Manager

A highly focused, corporate credit research and asset management firm located in the South, has retained our firm to help in their search for a Co-Manager/Portfolio Manager of their newly created Hedge Fund.

The firm is an independent structured finance asset management business focused on the management of institutional investments in corporate credit.  Headquartered in the South, the firm was founded by established professionals with extensive experience in debt capital markets, leveraged and structured finance.  The firm was recently acquired by a multibillion dollar private equity group.

Based in the south, and reporting to CEO/President, the successful candidate will co-manage a newly formed hedge fund and be responsible for managing the hedge fund assets in this “flagship” fund.  He/she will also sit on the Investment Management committee.

A private equity and alternative investment arm has committed an initial several hundred million in seed capital in addition to a personal investment from the principals of the firm.  The fund is expected to grow to at least $1B within the first twelve months.

The co-manager will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, trading, and monitoring a long/short corporate credit book with a multi-strategy credit hedge fund.  The ideal candidate will be capable of building quantitative models to support trade idea generation that will be integrated into the firm’s fundamental corporate research platform.  In addition, the successful candidate will actively participate in fundraising and relationship management.  The co-manager will lead a team of High Yield/CDS/LCDS traders and a senior distress analyst.  He/she will possess the following:

•   a proven and certifiable track record in credit hedge fund management; ideal candidate will have at least ten years of hedge fund related investment experience; however, could be less depending on his/her track record;

•   strong experience not only in portfolio management but also fund raising; must have an established network of potential investors; experience in formation of documentation and administration of a hedge fund complex would be a strong plus;

•   effective communication skills and strong interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate well with both internal and external executives; team player who can contribute to the overall growth of the firm in the process;

•   a four year degree from a highly respected university; an MBA and CFA would be a plus.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing asset management and hedge fund.  An attractive compensation package, including participation in the fund, will be tailored to the successful candidate’s requirements.

If you have a personal interest in this position or thoughts of knowledgeable sources or potential candidates, please email resume@sockwell.com .  Your recommendations and/or interest will be kept in strictest confidence.
