Our firm is assisting one of the Southeast’s leading diversified real estate companies in its search for a Senior Vice President of Acquisitions.
Founded in 1937, our client is one of the most prominent diversified real estate companies in the Southeast and is recognized as a leading community builder. Its expertise in multifamily, retail office, land development and general contracting enables it to be an innovator in multi- and mixed-use development.
Headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., our client also has offices in Raleigh, Orlando, Tampa and Nashville and develops, builds and manages properties in the Carolinas, Florida, Kentucky, New Hampshire, Tennessee and Virginia. The privately held company has an asset portfolio and projects underway that have a market value exceeding $2B.
The successful candidate will be based in Charlotte and will be a member of the senior leadership team. Requirements include:
• at least 10 years of real estate experience, including a significant focus in multifamily and retail acquisitions with a premier developer or an institutional owner/advisor; a demonstrated record of closing deals and producing desired returns;
• significant transaction volume with a long-term owner’s orientation; successful track record of identifying, performing due diligence, structuring, negotiating and closing property acquisitions in complex and highly competitive communities; mid-Atlantic and/or Southeastern experience is highly desirable;
• a demonstrated ability for finding underperforming assets; someone who understands value-add repositioning, hard costs, re-tenanting, etc, and the risk/reward profile of such strategies; relationships with lenders, brokers and institutions;
• strong financial skills, including asset valuation and pricing and the development of pro formas and models; the ability to manage relationships with equity and financing partners;
• strategic leadership and vision; proven ability to recognize opportunities, develop and communicate strategies, and build consensus; an entrepreneurial, action-oriented style; someone who enjoys growing a business and making things happen;
• excellent interpersonal relationship building skills; team orientation; good judgment;
• an undergraduate degree from a competitive college or university; a graduate degree is preferred.
